tick-tock

We love our furries, but sometimes they get ill. Talk about it here.

tick-tock

Postby MeowGoodness » Mon Sep 30, 2013 2:00 pm

I took Paulie to the vet this morning, because the left side of her face has become puffy to the extent of partly closing her left eye. The vet took x-rays and discovered a tumor behind her left eye that's apparently causing all this disturbance as well as her chronic sinus problems of the last several years. I'm afraid surgery or any radical treatment is out of the question, so the vet sent her home with some eye ointment, pain medication, and an antibiotic to keep her comfortable for as long as she still has an appetite. :wah: I know this time is coming for all my cats, but it still is a shock when it happens. :stare:

I dread this with all of mine as well. I hope that you still get quality time with her.

I'm so sorry, must be very difficult for you and the cat. As Calypso says, hope you get some nice quality time together.

I'm afraid that Paulie is not at all happy with getting her doses of medicine, and is inclined to curl up behind the furniture sulking. I'll keep trying to coax her out with gooshy foods and treats...

Thinking of Paulie and you x.

It's funny, you kind of forget they're getting on a bit until something happens. Until last month my cats hadn't been to the vet for years but the 16 and 17 year old have begun showing that age is getting to them :(

I'm so very sorry, MG. Poor Paulie, I hope her appetite perks up. We all wish our kitties would live forever, I know watch Murph like a hawk anymore as he approaches his 19th birthday.

Thanks, all. Paulie is comfortable and eating well, so far. The vet discontinued her antibiotic treatment, but still has her on a pain medication and and eye ointment. Still keeping fingers crossed for the time being...
