Waiting on blood test results - pt 2

Postby shaza » Wed Aug 28, 2013 8:48 am

Gin went in for his re-test today - he's been on the thyroid tablets for about 4 weeks now.

Results in early next week. He lost a little more weight since the last appointment but overall seems to be better to me - a little more energetic. Vet says they may need to adjust dosage, but also that a thyroid problem can often hide a kidney problem so he's testing for that too - I hope that's not the case! Don't mind crushing a thyroid tablet - seems like no big deal this thyroid problem - but a little worried about what kidney issues mean for his well being.

Otherwise he seems happy enough to me. He brought me a "present" on Monday morning... first time in well over a year I think.

Sending him positive thoughts for good test results.

I hope you gave him the proper expression of gratitude for the "present"!

Well the results were ready already at the end of the week - apparently the thyroid meds worked too well so vet wants to reduce the dosage. Hurrah! He didn't mention any kidney issues and I forgot to ask but now I figure if there was a problem he would have discussed it - he's very thorough and good and explaining things in detail, options etc.

So the ginger beast only needs 10mg tablets now.

Another blood test in 3-4 weeks just to double check dosage again.
