Need that good ol' fashioned MCHY ju-ju

We love our furries, but sometimes they get ill. Talk about it here.

Need that good ol' fashioned MCHY ju-ju

Postby tonksrok » Fri May 24, 2013 8:46 am

Soliel is not doing well, he's struggling with his second Upper Respiratory Infection in less than a month. He's strictly an indoor cat, so I don't know how he keeps getting these. Right now it is everything I can do to keep his poor little nose clear (I noticed a slight bit of blood on the washcloth this morning :wah: ). He's not eating and he has lost about half his body weight, the Vet bills are killing me but he's my baby and I'd rather go without than have either of them suffer. Dr. B has ordered a different anti-biotic that has to be shipped in by Overnight Delivery and I can start it this afternoon. I did manage to get some hi-calorie gel mixed with a little warm water into him by syringe last night, but I had to get to work this morning and he was asleep, so I decided not to stress him out any more. He's going to be on a diet of kitten food until I can get him (1) well and healthy again, and (2) back up to his fighting weight. Prayers, vibes, juju, good thoughts, etc. are all needed and very much appreciated.

I feel like my world is coming apart at the seams, which is stupid because there are so many more people out there who are struggling with much more horrible stuff than this. :wah:

Poor boy. I wouldn't worry about the blood as most likely he's just popped a blood vessel by sneezing. Hopefully a new antibiotic should help - if he's been treated by the same meds every time then he may have developed a bit of immunity to them. Has he had vitamin injections, they may help boost his immune system? How old is he?

No Vitamin injections, but I am going to see if I can order some vitimins through 1-800-petmeds. He's 8 years old, so he's "middle aged" in cat years. He and Luna pickedup this "thing" when they were in the County Animal Shelter, I can only suppose that their previous owners didn't think vaccinations were necessary, idiots.

Thank you everyone for your ggod wishes.

Got everything crossed here that Soliel is soon on the road to recovery and plotting world domination.

He's showing some improvement, he actually ate something last night and this morning - and he's been drinking water. It's getting harder to give him his medication now which means he's starting to feel a little better. Still very congested, poor little guy. Thanks for all the good wishes everyone!!
