Letting go of Lex today.

We love our furries, but sometimes they get ill. Talk about it here.

Letting go of Lex today.

Postby hot4teacher » Wed May 01, 2013 9:39 am

He has drastically declined since we moved. He's had bounce-backs in the past but not this time. He's a walking skeleton and he's just "gone" if you know what I mean. This is the hardest one yet. I watched him come out of his Momma. His eleventh birthday is Saturday, and we were going to try to wait until Sunday, but at this point, it's just cruel to keep going over some arbitrary date that means nothing to him. The appointment is at 1:30.

What a beautiful boy he once was. He's on the right. Sissie Lola is on the left and you can barely see Momma Zoe squished in the middle.

Hopefully Sugar is waiting for him. They can be cuddle buddies like they were before we lost her.

I'm so sorry it's his time. I wish he had many more years to go. He is very lucky to have you and your family as his own. Love on him. :wah:

I'm so sorry. You gave him a lot of love, comfort and security in his life. You couldn't have done better for him. :wah:

I am really sorry, it is never an easy decision to make, but you're putting his welfare first. :wah:

My sweet, beautiful baby boy.

Diabetes just ravaged him. Like I said, he'd have bounce-backs - but this time he just couldn't come back. He was in such bad shape, I was ashamed we let him go on so long. Yoda (his sister) has been diabetic longer than him, and other than some neuropathy, which doesn't hinder her any, she has had no ill effects other than getting two shots a day. His mom and his other sis, Lola, doesn't have it. His mom Zoe is the most kittenish 12 year old cat I've ever seen. Lola is fat and loses hair because of her nervousness around the dogs, but other than that, she's healthy. My vet always says genes are a crapshoot. There are just so many feelings every time I have to make the choice. It's the worst part of being a pet person.
